The primary responsibility of this position is to prepare and deliver market training programs to NYISO Market Participants and NYISO Employees.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate a thorough technical knowledge of the NYISO Markets and the ability to instruct Market Participants on the NYISO Markets and Products.
- Independently complete training projects and deliver final products that meet established expectations, deadlines, and budgets.
- Continuously monitor NYISO issues, positions, market products, and market rules for changes; in order to deliver updated training to Market Participants in various settings.
- Perform training needs analysis including:
a) Analyze jobs to determine the tasks of generic Market Participants or NYISO Employees. b) Analyze tasks to determine the steps, skills, and knowledge required to carry out the tasks. c) Review training evaluation data to identify areas for improvement. d) Interview Management Personnel, Market Participants, and Subject Matter Experts to identify needs for Market Training.
- Assist Market Training Supervisor and Senior Market Trainers with curriculum development to satisfy training needs.
- Develop training materials and plans, as well as assessments to ensure course objectives are realized.
- Perform post training evaluations of training effectiveness; analyze results and revise training materials to make improvements as needed.
Experience/Skills:
- 3-5 years experience in the electric utility industry required
- 2 years experience participating in or overseeing Competitive Electrical Wholesale Markets with the capability to demonstrate a working knowledge of the NYISO Markets preferred.
- Demonstrated training ability in a technical field required
- Platform Training/Public Speaking experience required
- Instructional design experience on topics for technical and non-technical audiences, including knowledge of adult learning theory desired
- Experience with the training analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation process required
- Technical knowledge of NYISO markets and products preferred.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills required
- Intermediate Power Point skills required
Education:
B.S. in related technical field or B.S. Degree in Electrical Power, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related field preferred.
