Supervisor, Grid Operations Technologies

Manage research and development of software products, qualification or re-qualification of new and existing products for the Grid Operations development. This includes applications and systems in support of the management of the electric power grid, and applications for scheduling of power flow. Supervise team to ensure fulfillment of product requirements, evaluate product performance and transition products from development to implementation. Provide support to a 24x7x365 operation. Collaborate in determining product delivery and deployment dates for new product releases, feature and maintenance releases and regular corrective service or service pack releases

Specific Responsibilities:
  • Act as subject matter expert (SME) and focal point in product and software development function. Provide technical and administrative leadership to Developers on product team and across other product development teams. Drive and implement standards and designs across multiple operating systems (OS) and applications.
  • Manage work of staff including review and approval of functional requirement specifications, creation of architectural and software design specifications, software development, unit testing, review and approval of integration test plans, review and approval of deployment plans and creation of support documentation for defined products and projects.
  • Establish and consistently maintain an environment that leads to opportunities for team and individual growth and accomplishment. Perform duties of staff supervision, performance appraisals, career guidance and other duties as assigned by Manager.
  • Support NYISO Software Configuration Management systems and processes.
  • Consult with management, end users and business analysis personnel to clarify program intent, identify problems, suggest changes and determine extent of software development required.
  • Support NYISO project planning process by investigating new issues and providing preliminary work estimates.
  • Interact with IT internal and external customers. Act as liaison with other departments. Address all issues and ensure timely resolution of issues and concerns. Drive resolution into organizational goals and objectives. Provide support to team members with escalation of issues as necessary to do so. Provide customer management support as needed.
  • Administer the adherence to corporate and departmental policies, processes and procedures. Participate in forming and carrying out department's policies and procedures and recommending corporate and departmental policies and process improvements to executives.
  • Coordinate procurement and manage contractors and vendors.
Experience/Skills:
  • 7+ years progressively more responsible related experience including project management, technical lead and supervision; or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing teams and / or providing technical and supervisory oversight to a team or work group
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
Education: Bachelor's degree (B. S.) in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics or related field; Master's Degree (MS, MBA) preferred.
